Then you are done quickly: Brewbuddy now lives at its own address, where you will always find the latest version. You can skip everything below about backups — that is only for people who were already using the app at this address.

Were you already using Brewbuddy at this address? Then read on.

Why?

Until now Brewbuddy lived at the same web address as the rest of the Bossche Brouwers website. To a browser that is one and the same place: anything running there can reach the same stored data. On its own subdomain the app stands alone, cleanly separated from the rest.

⚠️ Note: your recipes do not move along automatically

Your recipes and batches live in your browser's storage, and that storage belongs to the web address. Open the new address and you will find an empty app. Your data is not lost — it is still at the old address — but you have to bring it across yourself. Three steps.

Make a backup

Open Brewbuddy at the old address and choose Settings → Export everything (JSON). One file is saved containing all your recipes, batches, stock, prices and water profiles.

Go to the new address

Open the new address. You will see an empty app — that is expected.

Import the backup

There, choose Settings → Import backup and point it at the file from step 1. Everything is back, including your version history.

📱 Using the app as a shortcut on your phone?

Remove the old shortcut and add it to your home screen again from the new address. Otherwise you will keep opening the old one.
